Screened Chalk
Screened chalk is the predominant natural liming material in East Anglia. The 1991 Fertiliser regulations specify that for a screened product classification, 98% must pass through a 45mm sieve. We only supply 25mm to dust or finer which makes it an ideal material to apply to stubbles. Typical NV of 45-46%..
Ground chalk
Available as 6mm to dust, this grade is excellent for quicker correction of low pH levels. The finer particle size gives a better coverage when spreading and we would recommend this grade for application after ploughing or cultivations, grassland or for top dressing purposes. We regularly apply ground chalk to growing onion and sugar beet crops to overcome areas of acute soil acidity. Typical NV of 48-50%.
Limestone
The limestone we supply generally has a higher NV than chalk but, comes from a harder parent material therefore applications are similar to chalk. Our screened & ground limestone is 5mm – dust & 3mm – dust respectively. We can supply these grades from multiple quarries. Typical NV of 52-55%
Magnesium Lime
Often referred to as Mag Lime, this material is the best product to use if your soil suffers from low pH and Magnesium deficiency. The maglime that we supply has an unrivalled specification containing 20% as MgO, a 59% NV with 77% passing through a 150 micron sieve. This offers a very cost effective way to add Magnesium to your land. A screened grade is also available. Delivered in full artic loads.
Magnesium lime is not recommended if you have above target Mg indices.
Typical NV 59% and 20%MgO
Limex
LimeX is a liming bi product derived from the processing of sugar beet. As one of the largest independent suppliers of LimeX we are well placed to advise you on the benefits of using this material.
With a typical NV of 25% and a 30% moisture content Limex does require higher application rates than quarried lime products.
Lump Chalk & Limestone
Lump chalk is available for cattle sheds/yard floors. It is an ideal material for a livestock situation as the porosity of the chalk allows fluids to be absorbed and neutralised. The chalk is available ‘as dug’ or in a screened grade and is suitable for compacting with a vibrating roller or tracked machines.
A harder grade of Limestone can also be supplied which is less permeable and therefore suitable for track or gateway maintenance and outdoor pads.
