Plan Ahead in 2008!!
Several of the farms that we spread lime for after harvest find that the early spring period is a good time to assess pH levels in the soil. This forward knowledge can help to identify problems in the growing crop, allow budgets to be accurately forecasted for post harvest applications and means that spreading operations can be carried out as soon as a field has been combined. This is particularly useful where OSR follows a wheat crop and cultivation operations are time sensitive. To arrange your early pH or PK testing contact us now.

P & K too expensive?
With prices of P & K having risen sharply in the last year there has never been a better time to make sure that your inputs are not wasted. Field sampling to determine levels of Phosphate, Potash and Magnesium is a simple but cost effective task. In 2007 we took considerably more P & K samples than in previous years. Some test results meant that it was possible for certain farms to take a P & K holiday. Contact us for more details

In Depth!!
The late winter/early spring time is ideal for total N testing. Tests to a depth of 90cm can be carried out to determine total Nitrogen levels in the soil. A GPS Satellite nutrient mapping service is now available through us to provide you with a valuable management tool to improve yields, reduce your fertiliser inputs and increase farm profits. To benefit from these services contact us now.

Testing, testing!
We now have soil testing kits available to buy. These are used BDH soil pH testing kits and come complete with 12 test tubes, soil indicator, a colour chart and instructions. The kits are a quick and accurate way to determine your own soil pH levels. Please contact us for more information.
