Keith Mount Liming is a family business with the Mount family being the earliest known company to have applied lime to Norfolk fields as early as 1868.

Fertiliser Products

As well as supplying lime to farmers we can also offer a range of blended fertilisers from straight TSP and MOP to Kainit and Kieserite. Where suitable this means that we can arrange the delivery of the lime and fertiliser together, which can often be applied by the same spreader eliminating hassle and loss of time from arranging other contractors and hauliers.

It was the popularity of Limex (a bi product from the sugar industry) with farmers that encouraged us to become involved with Fibrophos PK fertilisers. Fibrophos is derived from the incineration of poultry manure which is used as fuel for state of the art power stations. (The first in Suffolk & the second in Norfolk) The resultant ash from the furnace is available as Fibrophos, a concentrated fertiliser consisting mainly of phosphate & potash, with sulphur, magnesium, calcium, sodium & essential trace elements. Spreading is carried out using bredal lime spreaders. The Fibrophos delivered & spread service we offer therefore compliments our liming operation. Many of our customers who have tried it have then repeated their orders in following years.

Fibrophos is available in 3 grades:

Traditional 0-22-12
The traditional favourite for most grassland and arable situations.

Balanced 0-14-14
Ideal for arable and grassland situations where a balanced PK is required

High K 0-11-22 Perfect for lower potash soils, silage or where extra potash is required.

How do we know Fibrophos does what is claimed?

Over the past 8 years, formal trial work has been systematically carried out to establish that the product performs in yield and quality terms as well as Triple-Superphosphate (TSP) and Muriate of Potash (MOP) - both of which are used as standards. Using a variety of well respected research bodies, it was confirmed that the phosphate and potash in Fibrophos are as effective as TSP and MOP. In some cases the potash in Fibrophos was shown to demonstrate less antagonism to magnesium than that of muriate of potash. The work further demonstrates the added bonus of Fibrophos with increased performance from the other major and minor nutrients also present.

Secondary Nutrients

With today's higher yielding crops, deficiencies of secondary elements are often the cause of yield loss. Fibrophos is not just a PK fertiliser. Fibrophos fertilisers contain a wide range of secondary nutrients and important trace elements in significant quantities.

Calcium 25% as CaO
Sulphur 7% as SO3
Magnesium 5% as MgO
Sodium 3% as Na2O

Ferteco

Ferteco composted soil improver is another product we are currently promoting. This is a composted green waste material also available to farmers on a delivered & spread or supply only basis. Ferteco is excellent for improving organic matter on light sandy soils whilst acting as a form of soil conditioner on heavy clay.

Ferteco not only provides valuable organic matter but also acts as a slow release supply of nitrogen, phosphate, magnesium & sulphur and provides a readily available source of potash. Other increased benefits include increased water holding capacity, stabilised soil pH, and improved soil biology with increased microbial activity. The compost also works beneficially with fertiliser to improve nutrient use & supply to the plant therefore increasing yields.

Seven trial sites have been established in eastern England on varying soil types. Soils that are low in organic matter, phosphate and potash will respond to a greater degree. Many of these soils are those with a high sand content. However, clay soils also benefit due to the extra organic matter inputs giving improved seed bed conditions leading to better germination and establishment and early root growth. Compost can slightly raise a soil pH when it is low and stabilise it when it is at or above neutral. This can counteract the effect of general fertilisers which tend to lower the pH over time.

‘Ferteco’ is THE name for composted soil conditioners available throughout eastern England offering different options to suit different farm operations. Farmers can collect compost ex works, or we will arrange either delivery to your farm or a delivered & spread service.
